Fulton commissioners support 'Developmental Disabilities Awareness'

WAUSEON — Fulton County commissioners approved a resolution during a recent meeting supporting March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.

A media release from the Fulton County Board of Developmental Disabilities noted that the agency’s theme for this year’s observation is “Our Voice, Our Strength.” As such, the board is promoting “the power of self-advocacy, the important of being heard and the strength that comes from individuals sharing their stories and experiences.”

Part of this effort includes partnerships with Triangular Processing, Sara’s Garden and Wauseon Public Library for activities during March. For example, persons with developmental disabilities can share their favorite books and voices with others through the library program.

In other business, commissioners:

• approved a resolution supporting the Fulton County Health Center’s application for an HHS community project funding application. Specifically, the hospital in Wauseon is seeking help to replace a CT scanner, CT contrast injector and renovations to its radiology/fluoroscopy room.

• passed a resolution awarding a bid to R.G. Zachrich Construction, Inc., Defiance, for rehabilitation of a bridge on County Road 24, near Road A. The cost is $239,097.69 while the engineer’s estimate was $320,000.
