Letter: Chamber endorses DCBDD levy

At it’s February meeting, the board of directors of the Delaware Area Chamber of Commerce voted to endorse the Delaware County Board of Developmental Disabilities’ 2.0-mill renewal levy plus an additional 0.7 mills that voters will see on the ballot in May.

The DCBDD is part of the county’s safety net for families that deal with disabilities. The board coordinates essential services that allow individuals of all ages to meet their potential, provide respite for caretakers, and ensure that the extraordinary quality of life for which Delaware County is noted extends to all its residents.

Delaware County Board of Developmental Disabilities serves more residents per capita than any board in the state. While growth brings amazing opportunities, it also brings challenges to our agencies. Delaware County has a rich tradition of acting as stewards to its neighbors by supporting the organizations that help the most vulnerable.

The cost of the levy is $68.77 per year per $100,000 in home value. The Chamber believes in the investment of Delaware County’s exceptional populations so that they can live to their fullest potential and allow them to engage with their community.
