Local non-profit holds Winter Wonderland event for those with disabilities

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN)- The Abilities Unite Foundation of the Mahoning Valley put on its fourth annual Winter Wonderland event.
The event is put on to give the families they help a chance to come together, celebrating all the special elements of the season in a safe and supportive setting.
Over 1,400 guests attended the event. The foundation’s executive director says it’s all about making everyone feel included and not considered an afterthought during the holidays.
“I’ve had families tell us that it’s so nice to not be an afterthought of an event, but it’s the forefront of our focus and our families feel it. We’re just so touched to be able to deliver these types of experiences to our families,” said Stephanie Champlin, executive director of the Abilities United Foundation of the Mahoning Valley.
The Foundation holds many events throughout the year. Their next event will be an art exhibition at the Jewish Community Center, showcasing artwork created by artists they serve.
