NEW BREMEN — In celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, the Auglaize County Board of Developmental Disabilities will recognize CJ’s Pizza for its exemplary employment of people of all abilities during its Nov. 10 board meeting.
CJ’s Pizza, located in Wapakoneta, is a workplace where inclusion is at the forefront. The team at CJ’s Pizza empowers people with developmental disabilities by helping them discover their niche so they can truly grow and thrive with confidence, according to Renee Kohler, superintendent of the Auglaize County Board of DD.
“They [individuals with disabilities] are more help than what they realize,” said Ashley Golden, manager at CJ’s Pizza. “And that’s the best part about it, because they are normal people – Hunter and David – just like us. They just want to come to work and do their job,” she continued.
Kohler said that by working closely with Auglaize DD to provide meaningful opportunities for individuals, such as David Bruggeman and Hunter Wehnes, CJ’s Pizza demonstrates an understanding that inclusive thinking has power to strengthen the entire community.
“We are excited to show our appreciation for CJ’s Pizza this October. They are truly intentional about creating opportunities for people with developmental disabilities, and they share our belief that communities benefit when businesses like theirs embrace inclusive hiring and celebrate the success of all employees,” Kohler continued.
