OTTAWA — Putnam County commissioners met with the interim director of the county’s Developmental Disabilities Board during a recent meeting.
Andrea Hammonds, has taken over for Michael Boaz, who recently retired as superintendent after 11 years with the agency. Hammonds has been serving in the position for several weeks, and introduced herself to commissioners at the recent meeting.
A resident of Putnam County, she continues to serve as the full-time director of the Williams County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
At present, Hammonds serves in one county for three days of each week and in the other county for two days. This schedule is then flip-flopped for each county from week to week.
According to commissioners’ meeting minutes, the state’s DD board “is looking at shared superintendents for cost savings.”
The minutes noted that Putnam County has a six-month contract with Hammonds “to give the board time to figure things out. She is willing to consider coming back to Putnam full-time.”
In other business, commissioners received a quarterly update on employee insurance reports from Melissa Bodey of the County Employee Benefits Consortium of Ohio (CEBCO), and others. Claims more than $100,000 are picked up by CEBCO.
