TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - The Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities (Lucas DD) and the National Museum of the Great Lakes are partnering to host a sensory-friendly event on March 14 and March 15.
The event is designed to create a calm and welcoming experience. The sensory-friendly hours will be March 14 from 9 to 10 a.m. and March 15 from 11 a.m. to noon. During those times, crowds will be limited, lighting will be dimmed and exhibit sounds will be lowered to reduce sensory stimulation.
According to a press release from Lucas DD, there will be special activities at the museum on March 14 from 9 to 10 a.m. All visitors will receive $2 off admission during that time. There will also be a DD-themed game and information about programs and resources available.
The first 50 visitors on both days will be entered into a drawing for a free museum family membership.
