The Scioto County Developmental Disabilities recently received a three-year accreditation from the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities, effective Dec. 1, 2025, through Nov. 30, 2028. This is the highest level of certification awarded to county boards in Ohio.
According to a press release from the SCDD, the accreditation review by DODD’s Office of Compliance highlighted SCDD’s integrated, community-based advocacy model, which ensures individualized support through strong partnerships and accessible, well-organized services. Collaboration was noted as a key strength, including close work with Scioto County Job and Family Services, local law enforcement, and mental health agencies to address complex needs.
The release also stated that reviewers recognized SCDD’s internal culture of problem-solving, effective use of technology, specialized SSA caseloads and flexible scheduling that enhances responsiveness to individuals and families. The Provider Liaison role was praised for coordinating critical training for direct support professionals and strengthening communication among local providers. Leadership development and staff participation in regional and statewide committees were also cited as ongoing strengths.
SCDD’s Early Intervention program received recognition for its regional collaboration with a neighboring county, expanding services to even more children.
“This accreditation is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our entire team,” said Superintendent Matt Purcell. “We are proud to serve the individuals and families of Scioto County and grateful for the positive feedback from the review.”
Special acknowledgement was given to Chad Phipps and the Service and Support Administration team for their leadership during the accreditation process.
SCDD serves more than 900 individuals in Scioto County through Early Intervention, the Vern Riffe School Program, Service and Support Administration, Provider Training and coordination of essential community supports.
