We asked our staff of 160-plus employees why MCBDD is a “great place to work.” The responses were given anonymously.
Many employees submitted their comments, and all of them were good. But we believe this one says it best:
“When you work with people who need support, it can become all-consuming and overwhelming, no matter what population you are working with. Providing support is something that is very fulfilling. It gives me a sense of purpose and continues to inspire me on a daily basis.
“When the care and mental energy you provide becomes invisible, it takes away the joy of any job. Here at MCBDD, during training, everyone kept reminding us, as new hires, to take care of ourselves and work hours limited to what is needed and to work smarter vs. longer. I had heard this stated at other jobs where eventually discretionary effort becomes expected as a normal function of the job.
“Needless to say, I was skeptical that these values would be honored later. After being here a month, I began to realize that they truly meant it. They continue to reinforce employee mental health and why it is a priority. This has helped create a team atmosphere filled with kindness, grace, and professionalism. MCBDD does a great job of keeping teams motivated to help people live their best lives.”
