Open Door School to remain open for another year

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) – A school that provides services for children with developmental disabilities will stay open for another year.

Lawrence County Developmental Disabilities announced on Friday that its Open Door School will operate in 2026.

The superintendent said the program was on the chopping block after a levy failed in November that would have provided additional funding for the agency.

Officials said, however, that it will stay open with support from local school districts and the Lawrence County Educational Service Center.

The superintendent said they will look into additional resources to serve students beginning in 2027.
