NEW PHILADELPHIA − Tuscarawas County Board of Developmental Disabilities is rolling out Ohio’s Blue Envelope Program, giving people with developmental disabilities free packets to help first responders during traffic stops or emergencies, according to a community announcement.
The initiative provides a free packet designed to enhance communication between individuals with developmental disabilities and first responders during vehicle-related interactions, such as traffic stops or emergency situations, according to the announcement.
Originally developed by the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, the Blue Envelope Program has been implemented by multiple agencies across the country. The Blue Envelope Packet contains several items, with the primary feature being the blue-colored envelope itself. Individuals can use the envelope to store copies of important documentation, including identification, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance.
