The Muskingum County Board of Developmental Disabilities recently broke ground on a new home for individuals with disabilities on Central Avenue.
The home, set to be completed by spring 2026, will accommodate three individuals and feature two ramps, a large common space, and a fully accessible kitchen and bathroom, according to a community announcement.
“This home represents a marvelous example of government working to the benefit of all the people, especially those who are vulnerable and in need of genuine assistance,” Mayor Donald Mason said in the announcement.
The project is part of the Board’s Capital Housing Program, which aims to provide safe, affordable, and accessible housing options for people with disabilities. The program supports independence and community inclusion, with houses purchased or built using Capital Housing Grant funding from the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities.
These homes are located in various neighborhoods throughout the community, offering diverse living options for those in need.
“We were proud to participate in the groundbreaking of a new residential home for our Muskingum County Board of DD, which expands the vital services for our residents. This investment reflects the continued commitment to supporting inclusive growth and improving the quality of life for all members of our community,” County Commissioner Melissa Bell said in the announcement.
