Wood County developmental disabilities board hosts accessible 5K

Staff

BOWLING GREEN — The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities will hold its Run, Walk & Roll 5K race at the end of May, raising money and awareness for the organization.

The event, hosted by the board’s levy committee, will take place May 30, at the Wood County Fairgrounds, 13800 W. Poe Rd., Bowling Green. Registration opens at 9 a.m. and the race begins at 10 a.m.

The event is open to participants of all ages and abilities. Organizers said they redesigned this year’s course to improve accessibility, routing three circular laps around the fairgrounds to avoid obstacles such as rocks and speed bumps. A universal changing unit will also be available for families or individuals that need assistance.

Early bird registration is $20 through Monday and includes a guaranteed T-shirt; the fee then rises to $25. Register at runsignup.com.

WCBDD serves more than 1,400 individuals in Wood County.
