TIFFIN — The Seneca County Opportunity Center recently shared how grateful both their staff and the residents they serve are for the community’s overwhelming support during Developmental Disability Awareness Month.
Throughout the month of March, community members, volunteers, and local officials attended events like Bakery Bingo, the Celebrity Basketball Game, and the 68th Annual ACT Council Palm Sunday Drive-Thru Dinner– none of which would have been possible without the community's support.
SCOC also extends special thanks to the athletes of the Special Olympics Ohio Seneca Arrows, the local celebrities, Heidelberg athletes, and community members who attended the Celebrity Basketball Game.
“We are grateful to Heidelberg University for hosting the event, as well as the Heidelberg cheer squad, which partnered with the Seneca Arrows pep band and squad to cheer on the players,” said Hannah Hawk on behalf of the SCOC.
In addition to the celebrations, the SCOC’s Aktion Club members have actively been volunteering in classrooms by reading to children, promoting the importance of inclusion.
