The Defiance County Board of Developmental Disabilities reviewed its strategic plan during its monthly meeting on Tuesday.
In lieu of discussing program updates at this meeting, board members updated many of the strategic plan goals that the organization completed in the six-month period of July 1-Dec. 31.
“We participated in the Make-It Take-It resource event last week at Defiance College,” said Good Samaritan School Superintendent Heidi Hull. “We made great connections with families and other professionals from all over northwest Ohio. We shared tools for self-regulation, early child development, technology and motivational tools for parents and children to use. Each agency provided attendees with giveaways they could take home and use right away.
“We began using Individual Support Service funds to pay for one-on-one staff to attend community camps with children with disabilities,” Hull added. “This allows them to join in with their peers and enjoy the opportunity to attend camps. We started last summer with soil and water’s nature camp, and the staff and children had a great experience.”
Team members also updated the board on a number of other strategic plan goals that were met, according to Hull.
In other business, the board approved:
• the 2026-27 agency/school calendar.
• the Northern Buckeye Education Council’s managed internal broadband service order/quote of $22,841.40 for five years, effective July 1 through June 30, 2031.
• other administrative and personnel matters.
