Adam Herman

Chief Executive Officer

Adam Herman serves as OACB’s Chief Executive Officer, where he advocates on behalf of all 88 county boards as they work each day to support more than 117,000 people with developmental disabilities and their families across the state.

Since joining the association in 2011, Adam has led advocacy, communications, and strategic statewide initiatives aimed at strengthening Ohio's DD service delivery system. A registered legislative and executive lobbyist in the State of Ohio, he works to advance key advocacy priorities on behalf of county boards while ensuring the voices of people with developmental disabilities and their families are represented in all key decision-making processes at the local, state, and federal level.

Before becoming CEO in 2022, Adam led several statewide awareness and branding campaigns designed to spread positive images and perceptions of people with developmental disabilities in the state. These included the year-long celebration of the "Always There" campaign in 2017, which recognized the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of county boards in 1967, as well as Ohio's "Fix the List" effort, which successfully informed nearly 50,000 families on ways that the State of Ohio's waiting list process was changing in 2018.

Prior to joining the association, Adam served as a strategic advisor and director of communications for various elected officials at the state and local level after several years working on legislation, state policy, and district communications for individual lawmakers and caucus leaders in the Ohio House of Representatives.

When not traveling Ohio in support of county boards and their mission, Adam likes to travel the world visiting exciting new locations—from the fire temples of Azerbaijan to the Arctic tundra of Finland—and cheering on the three-time MLS Cup champions Columbus Crew as they defeat zero-time MLS Cup champions FC Cincinnati.
